“I heard it might snow today”

As I exited the subway today in Shibuya I had a message from Lauzinne
who was waiting for me at the starbucks above saying it was snowing.
I had heard that it might snow today and as I didn’t grow up around
snow and cold weather I get really excited as its not all that
common in Tokyo. So as I walk up the stairs into Starbucks I see
the streets of Shibuya filled with whispy white snow floating throughout
the air across the famous Shibuya crossing.
Me and Lauzinne sat at the window and watched the crossing
and the snow, it was a beautiful morning. We then ventured out into the
streets to do some window shopping and hadn’t realised just how much it
had begun to stick. The streets were quickly filling up with snow and
the whole of Shibuya had turned into a winter wonderland.

We then ventured to Omotesando and by this time the amount of snow had
increased quite a bit. This was when we decided to head home as we wanted
to avoid train delays and I’m not the most winter savvy person.

We stepped out onto Omotesando street to enter the subway and it
was such an amazing sight. The trees that line this street are always
so beautiful and I’ve watched them from the bare trees of Winter, the new
growth of spring, the hyper colour green of the summer,
the deep red and orange of Autumn and the illuminated Christmas trees.
But to see them covered in snow was a beautiful way to end my year
in Japan, watching something complete a full cycle just as I myself
have accomplished another amazing year here in this amazing city.
Snow day 4
It was a beautiful snow filled Tokyo adventure.

Brunchtime

Christmas Eve brunch at Two Rooms Aoyama.
The last time I had brunch here was with Aja
which I previously posted about.
Today me and Lauzinne sat inside against a
window overlooking Aoyama.
It was a beautiful meal as always
and another successful brunch date with Lauzinne.

Luxury

Todays conversation revolved heavily around
our luxury futures me and Lauzinne intend on having.
We see no reason why we can’t be
wealthy and living the high life
in our impeccably architecturally designed houses, laced
with only the finest furniture and manchester, lazing
about by our lap pools and calling up our girlfriends to
have Sunday brunch with our small (well dressed) children in tow.
This however is a fantasy and I’m at quite the opposite
end of the scale right now, but a boy can dream.
Today my little luxuries included a 300yen beanie with
horns, a pair of black 1490yen pants, a coffee and
seeing a picture of me in Ginza magazine (with Lauzinne as usual)
at the American Apparel fashion show event I attended
in October.
I’m quite content so maybe I don’t need those extravagant things
in my future. But then again I won’t say no when they come about.

The people you meet.

A few weeks ago I posted about a party I attended here in Tokyo
called “Left for dead” in an abandoned hospital in Shinjuku.
Well today I met up with one of the people I met there.
Her name is Aja and she works in fashion in NYC
this girl has style! Today she turned up in a sick black
outfit with a big red scarf and a red lip with an amazing
leather studded bag I just wanted to steal straight off her shoulder.
We had brunch at two rooms in Aoyama on the 5th floor which
overlooked Harajuku and Omotesando and onto Shinjuku.
The view was stunning and we got to sit outside on the balcony.
It was chilly but with the blankets provided and the heater above us it
was just perfect.
The food was delicious I’ve been meaning to go here for brunch for a while
and was too hungover (truth be told) so today was good.
Me and Lauzinne are planning a Christmas Eve brunch here too which
I’m excited about.
I had salmon, eggs benedict and a kiwi mojito which went down a treat.
We spent the afternoon chatting and sharing stories about our lives.
It’s rare you meet someone on such an off chance and have so much
to talk about. Aja has such an interesting life and a great outlook on
things I was so happy I got to spend the day with her.
We then walked down into Harajuku had a peek in some
second hand stores and then parted ways.

A crock pot casserole kinda gal.

I love Omotesando, Harajuku and Shibuya on Sundays.
I always say that when you are somewhere thats crowded it means
you’re in the right place. There is always so much happening and such a
diverse range of people out, the queues for popular places to eat
run down alleys and pour out onto the main streets
and today the weather was beautiful the autumn leaves
were falling and the sky was so clear.
The trees were also decorated with not only lights
but christmas baubles which I though was so cute
in ringing in the holiday season.
I spent it with Flan and I laughed my whole day away.
Another well spent Sunday in my eyes.
